So, you’ve downloaded RomRaider. Here’s what you need to do next:
Please ensure that RomRaider and our logger are NOT simultaneously open on the same computer. They fight for the serial connection. Not only our logger but any program that would also use the serial connection. For example, the flash tool or diagnostic software like INPA.
Start by removing all versions of Java (this uninstaller will do it all) and perform a restart. Then, install only the x86 (32 bit) version. You will need to create a free Oracle account to be able to download the file. Oracle Java Downloads Page

After a restart and installation of RomRaider, hopefully RomRaider is running.
If RomRaider displays the loading icon then nothing happens, head over to C:\Users\(your user) and look for “.Romraider”. Delete that folder then reopen RomRaider and it should be functional now.
- Create a folder wherever you’d like to save your logs. Inside this folder, you will drag in the XML logger definition you received and the ‘spare files’ included with the flasher, after you extract them using WinRAR.
- Open up RR logger.
- Go to the Settings menu at the top.
- Select “Log File Output Location…” and choose the folder you created in step 1.
- Press settings again then choose “Logger Definition Location…”.
- Select the logger definition .xml file you received that is now found in your folder that you created in step 1.
- Press settings again then choose “Select Logging Protocol Options…”.
- Select DS2 K-Line.
- Connect the cable to your car and laptop then turn your ignition on.
- You should see “Reading Data” in the top right corner and now have a list of dme-specific parameters that you can select.
- Select parameters from the list below and save those selections as a Profile for future use (File -> Save profile as -> save in the folder you created in step 1).
List of items to log for turbo tuning (except accelerator position on ms41 (please select these in this order):
- coolant temp
- accelerator position
- engine speed
- ignition angle
- engine load
- injection time
- lambda integrator bank 1
- TPS
- knock sensor volts bank 1
- knock sensor volts bank 2
- oil temp
- iat
- wideband
***Selecting the wideband through a serial line is a little different than the rest of the paramters, follow these directions:
- Always deselect and reselect this parameter every time you reboot romraider to make sure it reads on the log.
- Start by going to the plugins menu
- Select your wideband and if specified, reading type (I typically prefer gasoline AFR, but I can work with lambda)
- Select a port that is not the port being used by the OBD connection. If there’s only one other, easy, pick that. If not, if there’s too many to guess, might need to use the device manager to determine the port assignment of the serial adapter.
- Then go to the “External Sensors” tab, right next to the “Parameters” tab, select your wideband again from this list (again there may be a fuel calculation option, if so gasoline AFR is preferred, lambda is fine).
- Wideband should be added to your parameters list and once your sensor warms up, as the gauge starts outputting readings, this should mirror the gauge.
